The Quick and Easy Way to Boil/Peel Perfect Eggs

April 5, 2021

Sooooo, I know there are several posts and videos on how to do this, but I want to show you how I boil eggs the LaKey way. I will show the quick and easy way to boil/peel the perfect eggs. I really hate peeling overboiled eggs because the shell and the yolk are hard to peel and plus, the yolk is not cute at all. And I don’t even know how to describe the color of an overboiled egg. But anyway, I’m going to show you how to ensure that your eggs are cooked perfectly and the easiest way to peel them.

The first step to a perfect boiled egg is to make sure that it is not overcooked. I hate peeling my egg to see that grayish green yolk.

COOKING DIRECTIONS

  1. Add the eggs in a medium saucepan.
  2. Cover my eggs with water.
  3. Turn the stove to a medium heat.
  4. Allow the water to a rolling boil.
  5. Turn off the burner, leaving the saucepan on the burner. Turning off the burner but leaving the saucepan on the burner allows for the eggs to gradually cook with the residual heat of the water and the burner.

And that’s it. This will cook your egg perfectly. You will have a beautiful pale yellow yolk.

PEELING DIRECTIONS

Now for the part that people don’t like- the peeling. I don’t remember how I came up with this method, but it works.

  1. After removing the eggs from the water, I crack the eggs by either hitting them against the pot or the stove.
  2. I then gently squeeze the boiled the egg. In my opinion, the squeeze helps the boiled egg release from the membrane that is holding the egg white to the shell.
  3. After squeezing the egg, I begin peeling the shell off from the middle. This helps with getting the shell off from the other side.
  4. I then begin peeling the egg from either side, and the shells peel off quickly.

And that’s how you have peel an egg in under 30 seconds. DISCLAIMER: Eggs that are cracked before boiling or old may be harder to peel.

For those people who are visual learners, here is the YouTube video I created showing my technique.

As always, talk to you later, ladybugs!
