Scent Box & Perfume Review: Why You Should Try It

August 5, 2021

This post will be a Scent Box & perfume review. If you’re not familiar, Scent Box is a perfume subscription box where you get to try perfumes without committing to a full size bottle. I recently setup an account for Scent Box, which is a monthly perfume/cologne subscription box. I already have an subscription to Scentbird, but Scent Box has brands that Scentbird doesn’t have and vice versa. Here’s my review.

**DISCLAIMER** This is my honest and unbought opinion of this product. I was not paid or given free product for this review. Also, this is old. I wrote this post and shoot the video back in September 2020. Don’t judge me. It’s better now than never, right?

THE PROCESS

I selected the deluxe box ($24.95/month), which allows you to select 2 options instead of one like in the standard plan ($14.95/month). There’s also premium plans that allow you to try what they call premium fragrances (1 fragrance for $19.95/month and 2 fragrances for $32.95/month).

After setting up my plan, I searched the women’s fragrances. I was looking for the perfect perfumes for the fall and winter. Usually, I tend to buy floral and fruity scents, which work perfectly for the spring and summer but not so much for later on in the year. I used their smart filter to only show fragrances in the floral, woody, or gourmand families and appropriate for the fall and winter seasons. My search turned up 45+ perfumes.

I clicked into each fragrance, looking through its notes and reviews. I made sure I read the reviews because I am very picky and do not like scents that are very powdery or have a heavy presence of amber or musk. Two of the resulting fragrances caught my attention. I decided to try Boss Nuit and Armani Code. I’ve heard good things about Armani Code but never tried it. I’ve never heard of Boss Nuit, so I trusted the reviewers and ordered both of the scents.

THE PRODUCT

I setup my account on August 24th and received the package on September 14th, which is in line with the company’s shipping guidelines explained in their FAQs. Then I received a beautiful gold padded envelope with Scent Box’s branding across the front. I opened the package, revealing a black matte box holding 2 full atomizers.

I was surprised to see each atomizer in a travel fragrance case because this is different than what I’m used. Scentbird usually sends just the atomizer in a paper tube. They may surprise you with a free case every once in a while. Other than that, the cases are $10 each. Another difference between Scent Box and Scentbird is the style of fragrance cases. Both look the same, but they function differently. The Scent Box case is a twist up case that has the fragrance’s name on the bottom like a lipstick case.

On the other hand, the Scentbird case is a drop in case and you don’t know what fragrance is in the case unless you pull the atomizer out. To be fair, there isn’t a label on the Scent Box’s atomizers to tell you which fragrance is in the tube. so whichever one you like is up to personal preference.

THE PERFUMES

Ok let’s get to the reason we are all here, the PERFUME! Like I stated earlier, I received Armani Code Pour Femme and Boss Nuit. Both smell great. Now, Mrs. Armani Code-yes, Mrs. because she’s grown- is a slightly powdery, sexy date night scent. She is considered a gourmand scent, which to me, means edible. Gourmand scents usually smell like chocolate or any type of dessert, so Mrs. Code being a date night scent makes sense. According to Scent Box’s website, Armani Code’s notes are “zesty blood orange, ginger, pear sorbet, sambac jasmine, orange blossom, lavender honey, precious woods and vanilla.” Do you see all that food in there? Yes, get her. You won’t be disappointed.

Boss Nuit is grown too, but she is “I’m working in the office today” grown. She is more subtle, perfect for daytime wear. Boss Nuit is a warm, floral scent. I’m confused that this is a daytime scent because “nuit” literally means night in French, but oh well. According to Scent Box’s website, Boss Nuit has notes of “aldehydes, peach, white flowers, jasmine, sensual violet, crystalline moss, and creamy sandalwood.”

And that’s it. That’s the Scent Box and perfume review. I hope that this helped you with getting an impression of what Scent Box is and how those two fragrances smell. As always, talk to you later, ladybugs!
